The flicker of fire flies dancing on the darkness, the scent of lilacs and roses wafting through the air, the sound of a wood screen door as it slams shut and cold lemonade on a hot afternoon – it’s summer!

It’s “barefoot season” so kick off your shoes and feel the grass under your feet and between your toes! I just love the wonderful warm, sunny days that summer brings to our little corner of the world here in Northeast Ohio. I hope you’re enjoying the summer and wonderful times with family and friends.

While summer most often brings to mind “vacation,” this is one of the busiest times of the year here at Devine Designs. You can visit the YMCA Dream House for your chance to WIN this beautiful home and while you’re there, I hope you’ll get lots of design ideas! This year I designed the Lower Level – my inspiration was Headlands Beach just a short drive from the home. Cleveland Magazine will feature a special section on the Dream House in their July issue that you won’t want to miss.

With gas prices at record highs, this year many of us will be staying close to home. Read this article for some great ideas for vacationing at home this year.

I am also working with many of you to create the homes you want within the houses you have. I’m helping many of you sell your homes with my staging services. To date Devine Designs has staged more $5 million in homes in Northeast Ohio!! And, speaking of selling homes, like you I have been working room by room on the charming Cape Cod in Chesterland we bought last August. While it has “good bones” (as we like to say in the design world) it needs some updating. We’re having fun putting our own touches on it.

In August, I am honored to once again be speaking at the annual conference for The Society of Decorating Professionals which will be held in Phoenix. This conference is always a fabulous way for me to stay abreast of the design trends we’ll be seeing in the future.
